About

Jewish history, culture, and customs from the Middle East, Far East and North Africa The American Sephardi Federation’s Institute of Jewish Experience is dedicated to ensuring that today’s Jews know their history, appreciate the diversity of the Jewish People, and have a sense ofpride for the Jewish contributions to civilization. Our programs present the world’s leading scholars and represent the best that isbeing thought and written on our topics.

ASFIJE has contracted academics, educators, researchers and scholars to create programs online and on location for continuing learners and students.

  1. Semester long online courses (MOOCs) for continuing learners focusing on the less studied Jewish history, customs, culture and arts.
  2. Yearly academic conference focusing on one particular Jewish heritage. 2019 will showcase: Jews and Muslims of Morocco: Uncommon Commonalities.
  3. Multi-sensory museum exhibit, April through June, tocompliment the yearly conference.
  4. Year-round programs at New York’s landmark Center for Jewish History.
  5. Short informational clips supplementing standard Jewish curricula in Jewish middle school and high schools.

In keeping with the worldly, cosmopolitan tradition of Sephardim, the Institute rejects parochial demarcations and partisanship so as to exclusively focus on the totality of the Jewish experience, in all its beauty and complexity.
